Add me to the list of Kleen Kanteen devotees. I have been using them for years (as have my kids) and they hold up remarkably well. Easy to clean, easy to put ice cubes in, retain cold temps well, and are extremely durable. I do wish they had a straw attachment available since my sons favor straws, but can live with the other options. I have not had issues with leaks either. I do wish they were "ethically made" in the United States rather than China, but am glad they have been clean about their business practices.

Easy to clean (baking soda and lemon juice works great). Wide mouth lets in air, so you can sip easily. Fits perfectly in my VB lunchbag!

I wanted a st. steel water bottle for kids' lunch boxes, but it couldn't be too big and couldn't leak. This is perfect; perfect size, and with the poly loop screw-on top, as long as it is screwed on correctly, no leaks. They love them, and so do I!

Being in health care I am always concerned about pollutants like BPA and other unknown chemicals which are associated with health hazard. My bottles arrive looking good, OOps I did not read carefully I got Poly Loop cap (an all plastic PP#5 which KK claims to be safe plastic).
Convinced that I need ALL stainless steel and no plastic, I was about to order Stainless steel caps at additional $7 or $8 per cap when I read an insert describing Care & Use by Klean Kanteen which reads;
"Klean Kanteens are dishwasher safe, we recommend NOT washing our Stainless CAPS in a dishwasher because it is possible for H2O to squeeze itself into the cap."
Reviews under the KK SS Caps have mentioned water entrapment problem, is this why KK choose to use term "H2O", in a well crafted statement?.
Are we not suppose to use these bottles to store H2O (water in plain English)or H2O based fluids?, Are steel caps not safe? I don't know.
My conclusion:
Prevent or delay Land Fill:Yes (5 stars)
Plastic Free: NO (ZERO Stars)
